Baby C Pictures from August

He likes to chew the thing.  He will also get it with the binky part in so
there's only a small part sticking out of his mouth.

He sort of likes to suck his thumb.  This is how he
can suck his binky and thumb at the same time!

D bought this rubbery bracelet at Cub Scout camp.  C loves the texture and spikes.

D's Month

I mentioned that D spent the month with his grandparents.  He split his time in a complicated and confusing way but got to spend time with both grandparents and see Great-Grandpa and Grandma Jones.  The only thing he didn't get to do that he was looking forward to was go with Great-Grandpa "up the crick".
He got to go camping with Aunt Tara, swim a lot, read, play on the computer and Ipad, play with his cousins, have one on one time with Grandma Pyatt, work with Grandpa Pyatt, eat chocolate cupcakes and drink chocolate milk with Aunt Sue and a hundred other things - most of which I don't know because he doesn't really talk on the phone (actual conversation: "Hi, mom. 'Bye mom." O.o )
One of the highlights and the reason D did so much back and forth traveling between grandparents this year is because my baby brother came home from his LDS mission in Chile and D wanted to be at the airport when Uncle Rick got home.

D-man,  Elder Rick, Grandpa Bishop (the cute little girls are Sue's grandkids)
One of D's favorite places to be is Grandpa and Grandma Pyatt's 10-acre spread.  He had a friend there this year - one of the neighbor's granddaughters was visiting too.

"It's amazing, but for an 8 year old she can drive pretty good!" D

It's the neighbor's chickens and goats.  Apparently there were some horses as well.
D had his first solo flight on the 28th when he flew home.  Grandma 'Net and Uncle Rick took him to the airport in SLC and got him on the plane.  Roy, C, K, A and I met D on the other side.  We were able to get passes for our entire family to go through security to meet D at the gate.

He had a great flight and a good time.  He definitely wants to do it again!  Since Roy took the day off we decided to load up the bikes and take a family bike ride to celebrate having our D-man home.
Helping A get to bike up the hill -- he's such a great brother!!

The riding posse.

They are both happy to see each other!
We're happy to have him home.  We all love our D-man!  I'm so grateful to all the people who took good care of my oldest baby.  I'm happy to walk into his room and have him sleeping there.  Plus, he is my best and most capable helper.  I love this guy!

Pinterest Success

Been wanting to try this for BLT's.
Bonus tip: cook it in the BBQ grill - no heat or smell in the house!
And . . . NAILED IT!

Feeding kids

I was getting lunch ready for the girls and I kept thinking, "This is just like feeding a cat."
Yeah.  Just like that.

Sleeping breakthrough

Monday night baby C cried for an hour.  AN HOUR.  Before falling asleep.  I breathed a sigh of relief until he woke up 15 minutes later to cry some more.  Sleep training: fail.
Tuesday night baby C cried not at all and slept for 5 hours.  Woke up to eat and went back to sleep with nary a squawk for another 4 hours.  Sleep training: WIN.
How was this miracle achieved you ask?
Wait . . . did you hear that?  That was the sound of all pediatricians everywhere collectively gasping.  Tell you what pediatricians, you come over and spend a few nights with baby C on his back and then we'll see.......

I accidentally discovered this amazing fact of sleep yesterday when C fell asleep on my lap.  I slid him to the couch and he slept for a couple of hours through girls shrieking and playing around him.  He would wake up, put his head up and check things out before dropping it back down and sleeping some more.  IT WAS AWESOME-SAUCE!
Just now I put him down for a nap - fully awake.  Within a few minutes when I went back to check, he's asleep.  I woke him up taking the picture above (the one in his bed).  He merely raised his head, looked around, dropped his head and went back to sleep.  So yeah.  Baby's gonna be sleeping on his belly now.

Playing with friends

D left with Grandma and Grandpa B to spend the rest of the summer in Utah.  He'll be flying home at the end of August.  Which fact he is thrilled about.
The girls on the other hand are here and playing like puppies.  You'd better believe they sleep hard at night after spending all day playing!

Even better than putting the sprinkler under the tramp is putting it above the tramp!

Awesome friends!

Baby C: 5 months

  • Baby has definitely found his voice this month.  I love it!  There are shrieks and squawks and squeals and laughter and all the fun sounds a baby makes.
  • He's also getting pretty good with his hands.  He puts his thumb inside his binky (it is hollow) and sucks his thumb and binky at the same time.  He is starting to be able to grasp things and get them to his mouth for investigation.  Also, able to pull hair.
  • Despite the slightly chubby look in the picture above, he's still a small guy.  He is still wearing 3 month onesies.  Some of his clothes are getting too small but we're not in 6 month-er stuff yet.  Also still in Costco diaper size 1-2.
  • Loves everyone but really loves his siblings.  The girls get right in his face and he just smiles.  D has a special kissy routine he does.  It is all very sweet and lovey.
  • Went to the Pacific Ocean for the first time this month.  He wasn't impressed.
  • I'm pretty sure he rolled over for the first time today.  I can't confirm it because I did not see the actual event.  All I know is I left him on his back and when I returned he was on his stomach.  However, the girls were not conclusive about whether or not they rolled him over.  It was like they had no idea what I was asking.  They've never rolled him over before though so I think Baby C rolled himself over.  Part of me is happy and part of me is sad.  Rolling is the first step to mobility.
  • Rolling or not, he has mastered the ability of rotating his body around his noggin.
