Ebenezer, not Scrooge

We got home from DISNEYLAND a week ago today.  I have been meaning to post pictures about it all week.  Of course, I've been meaning to do laundry all week too but..... yeah.
So hopefully this week there will be a deluge of posts.  Hopefully.  I did manage to get my pictures off my camera and on to the computer.  This took an hour.  Literally.  While I did take quite a few pictures, the real problem is my computer.  It is just getting old.  Turns out laptops don't last forever.  Huh, who knew?
On the upside, I learned something while I was working on the pictures.  Since there is a lot of waiting time when working with my computer I decided to read in the Bible.  I was reading 1 Samuel 7 when I came across verse 12 which says:
12 Then Samuel took a astone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it bEben-ezer, saying, Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.
This may not mean much to most but one word in that verse stood out to me, Eben-ezer.  There is a hymn I love called "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing"

It has a line in it that I've never understood, "Here I raise my Ebenezer; Hither by thy help I've come".  Tonight I discovered that Ebenezer is a Hebrew word -- Eben meaning stone and Ezer meaning help.  In the scriptures it is a stone monument placed to remember help given by the Lord.  In our lives it is anything that brings to remembrance Heaven's divine assistance in our lives.  Wow.  The hymn just got even more inspiring!
I'm glad I was able to get something productive done while I was waiting for my technology to work.

Very cool Sheena! Thanks for sharing, I've often wondered about that line.
